Yesterday I was watching a crime drama series on TV at my cousins’, cool guys y’all need to meet them. I can’t remember the name of the show but man! People out here are creative in writing crime and drama shows. I got hooked before I knew it.
There was a murder scene and these guys decided to use a sort of projecting machine that drew up heat signatures of the place for the last 24hrs. The images brought up were dotted in structure and they gave a glowing appearance. From the image you could tell the person’s face, height and body size. You could even see what the person was holding, in this case it was a sort of laser machine. Some Now technology. It got me thinking on how this tech can be built in today’s world- creative thoughts started rolling… In all my infinite, yes infinite knowledge I determined that I would need three things and they included a hologram machine, a heat signature capture device and a crime scene room.
I didn’t have the equipment to build this machine therefore it’s a story pending….Onto Holograms though, ever wondered how they project stuff. If you want to see a hologram you don’t have to look too far, most of them are in our houses, i.e. our CDs and DVDs. These are small scale holograms used in every day duties, another example can be found on your credit card.
The large scale holograms are illuminated with lasers or displayed in a dark room with carefully directed light. They are incredible. They are 2d surfaces that show 3d images of real objects.
Modern Warfare is becoming more complex…. Sometimes I think it’s a child’s play but then reality sets in and people get killed in wars. The need to protect your own as a country, leader or military comes first and therefore we leverage technology to give us an advantage over the other. In this case we use Holograms to project in detail the terrain of a war zone area. This gives the ground troops a better understanding of the lay of the land and possible sites of advantage. Understanding that ‘your’ own is everybody on this planet is the key to a peaceful society. We are one united race.
The medicine world is also another entity that highly benefits from this inventions. It brings my mind to Doctor House or The Good doctor, if you can’t relate please get a life in medical television, they’ll teach you 123 things about the hospital. Doctor Murphy has this unique thinking ability that has propelled him to become a Resident Surgeon. The producer of the show brings his(Dr.Murphey) thought process to view by projecting his thoughts in 3D.
In the real medical world though, Holographic projections are being used to train and display images. A company in Scotland has been successful in using data to produce 3D images for training and displaying. EchoPixel produces a software that is capable in converting 2D images into stereoscopic 3D images and get this with this system professionals can cut virtual tissue, organs or other parts of the body at different angles. Truly Amazing stuff.
Holograms provide security against fraud, this is because they are complex optical devices and are difficult to make. An example of such a hologram is a small silver rectangle dove on your credit card. This is a white-light mirror-backed transmission hologram which displays 3D images which is visible to you as you move from side to side and changes color when you tilt it. Easy to manufacture, extremely difficult to forge.
Art is another form in which Holograms can be used. They make the performance more lively. The main target for the art market from my understanding of the Hologram effect is the ability to surprise the audice and give them an unexpected thrill. I remember the first Hologramic performance I saw was back in 2014. 2PAC was revived and performed at Coachella, It was a mind blowing performance, because at that time people had already settled with the idea of his demise. Holograms gives us a new dimension to life, and hopefully other clues to other dimensions.
