Ether
Freedom is not being imprisoned or enslaved — this is a google definition. Have you reached the precipice of slavery? Just let go of the shackles and see where you’ll end up, you might discover a hidden treasure.
Have you seen Thor the Dark World? If not grab yourself a copy and watch it. In the movie, we get a glimpse of the ether’s power. The ether is a force that existed before the birth of the Nine Realms. It converts matter into dark matter, and otherwise maintains an almost lifelike existence that causes it to bond in a parasitic fashion to a living host.
In reality, we see Ether as a sweet-smelling liquid… I remember my chemistry teacher Madam Achar giving us examples of where we could find ether compounds. According to her and the entire chemistry faculty, it can be in your perfumes and waxes. It’s A huge contrast with the fictional world.
We live in a time where transparency, honesty, and accountability are rare. We are looking for solutions that were once cultivated within us outside our humane scope. We now rely on artificial inventions to fulfill these values. It’s quite odd, we have the capacity to enact this quality but we prefer to rely on our creation.
And on a melancholic note let me introduce the Ether of the virtual world.
To understand Ether we have to first go through a sort of virtual gate called Ethereum. The textbook definition is - Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source, and distributed computing platform that enables the creation of smart contracts and decentralized applications, also known as Dapps. Closer to home though we can describe Ethereum as a decentralized computing network built on blockchain technology. This means that Ethereum is more than just a medium of exchange. It’s a marketplace of financial services, games, and apps-(called Dapps)that can’t steal your data or censor you. The privacy it offers makes me feel merry.
Back to the Ether now… We can look at the Ether as the oil that makes things run smoothly in the Ethereum platform. The Ether is a native cryptocurrency that runs the Ethereum network. Welcome to a new series of understanding the operation of Ether in Ethereum and the technology behind it all.
