Ayego sat at the counter in disbelief. It had been a day where he was placed between hard rock and place. He had protected his New-found ‘battalion’ of friends. They all were involved in manipulating the stock market and they left a trail which the AG’s office could chew on. The AG’s office had flagged their disguised movements and almost caught up with them until Ayego. He was now planning his next steps in preparation for retaliation by the AG. A cold ‘ndovu’ was brought. He needed to drown what he was feeling. During the questioning, his face and tone gave off an agitated vibe but what mattered to him and the battalion was what he said. All he could do now was wait and hope for the best. His friends joined him to celebrate his loyalty and also offer reassurance. As he drunk and laughed he found peace and felt a sense of Loyalty and that made it all easier and worthwhile.

Caller: is this Belinda ?

Belinda: Yes, this is she.

Caller: I don’t know how to tell you this but ummhhh…ummh…..ummmmh(the caller’s voice starts to get shaky), We have… we have…

Belinda: TELL ME ALREADY!

Caller: …I’m sorry but we have lost Cliff.

A month later…

Belinda sat outside the Veranda. She was feeling almost numb. Her dear deceased husband left her with fresh cut wounds that deepened her loss. The caller who informed her was Cliff’s secret second wife. He was at the second wife’s house when he shook hands with the reaper. Belinda had built a pristine image of the husband and this news gave her a shock beyond words. Her mind drifted to the things that held her to this world in the hopes that she will find something to feel. She was struggling but hopeful she will get the strength to move on with her life.

Dle-Loikop returned home a Man and warrior after fulfilling his culture’s tradition by killing a Lion. He was proud of himself and the community was ecstatic about his achievement. He was placed in the warrior’s guild and soon was conducting raids to neighboring villages. His ascent to lead his fellow warriors was quick. He felt a sense of honor after every successful raid and prayed for strength whenever they were defeated. During one of the raids, Dle-Loikop was captured by the country’s Military force. He was interrogated and later released. He found himself in Nairobery. Dle-Loikop didn’t know where to start or how he’d survive, He had to relearn everything he knew about life and adapt to this new world. A world where money was currency, not cattle. He heard over the radio the name of his community area and tried to inquire what was being said. He was told some cattle rustlers had attacked his community and destroyed everything. Dle-Loikop didn’t fidget he knew his warrior’s guild was more than able to defend his community and regarded the news as a hoax. After Months of rigorous learning and getting to know the new environment he managed to get enough capital to go back to his community. He was excited and eager to see his people, wife, and kids.

His home ground was bare, ashes lay where his manyatta was. The surrounding was bare. His mind rushed to the reporter’s voice over the radio. He knew his warrior’s guild was the most fierce force in this part of the country and couldn’t be defeated. His face turned cold. He looked around and saw a spear. He picked it up and started walking towards nowhere Insearch of his community and most importantly his enemy.
