Not Technology

Just stop and think for a moment. Be in-tune with nature and visualize that is quite and full of nature. A world with ‘uncivilized’ forms of communicating, transport and economic institutions. A boring world? Not quite. A world mainly built on the wheels of just being. A place where the chaotic scene of evening transit from work-places to home doesn’t exist. Instead of gathering around as family to watch the latest shows on TV, we all gather to tell and hear stories, learn about our culture and heritage.

Having natural alarms to wake you up, and by natural alarms I mean a grown Cock, not that annoying alarm that you keep snoozing. Enjoying the morning Sun in silences or conversations that brighten up the day without having to listen to a radio that apparently keeps you informed. Ooh! And the evening Sunset, the views are to die for and keeps you centered towards your purpose.

Picture yourself in the sandy beaches, enjoying the cool breeze and ocean sounds. Now picture the sandy beaches having a dark color. Dead fish floating on top all covered in black crude oil, bird grappling to move out of the water after an unfortunate dive to capture fish in waters affected by oil spills. Picture this water showing up on your shores. Our pursuits to make our lives easier comes at an expensive costs to nature and all that is beautiful around us. Complex made simple, simple made complex. It feels like we are in a circle circuit.

Having lunch together with your colleagues without having to care about the time on your phone, just having a good time in that moment, Enjoying the energy and laughs y’all bring to the table. The world would be a friendlier place.

Just being able to see yourself as you and not a character built on your profile. Being motivated by people around you, who actually relate to your struggles and have been through the same space, not some motivational speaker you were recommended to by some YouTube ad. Being able to comfortable in your skin regardless of the different appearances out in the pool of social media. The society being able to mold you into an individual who is able to contribute to its society in a productive way.

Make friends outside your social applications. Being able to build a humane character that helps rather that to record and post an individual’s misfortune. A character that is ready to stand up and confront the ills in the society rather than to rant on social platforms criticizing without actual action. We tend to relinquish our ability to speak up and let these platform express our intents.

I feel like technology is building walls around people, nature and our connection to it. We are motivated to make things easier, have more clicks and taps, and get more stars. We fail to see the beauty that is around us. We get lost in the façade that is Technology and in turn we lose nature and our connection to it.
